Celebrating Their Tenth Anniversary 
The Black Women In Sport Foundation Holds 7th Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 2002) The Black Women in Sport Foundation (BWSF) will hold it's seventh annual national conference on October 11-12 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Over 300 people from across the country are expected to attend and participate in workshops, demonstrations, and poetry readings and will have the chance to meet and mingle with some of the greatest names in the sports industry. The theme of this year's conference, "Celebrating the Achievements of Black Women in Sport" honors both past and present athletes as well as those athletes who have gone on to become coaches, sports administrators, businesswomen and communication professionals.

On Friday evening, BWSF will honor Val Ackerman, President, WNBA, and Malvina Lathum, International Boxing official. In addition, in honor of their Tenth Anniversary, the foundation will recognize Legends from the past seven years. Professional Boxer and Attorney Jackie Frazier- Lyde will present the keynote address at the semiformal cocktail "Legends" reception.

Adult workshops on Saturday include, "Coaching and Officiating", "Eating for Peak Performance", and "Black Women and the Media." Youth workshops will include "College Bound: Navigating the Admissions and Recruitment Process" and a viewing of BWSF's video "Amazing Grace" which highlights the achievements of black women in sports. On Saturday afternoon, at the Youth Awards Luncheon, Donna Richardson, nationally renowned fitness expert and broadcast personality will be the featured keynote speaker. The Annual
Awards Banquet on Saturday evening will host Swin Cash of the WNBA Detroit Shock as the keynote speaker. College scholarships will be awarded as well as prizes to the winners of a youth essay contest.

Serving as Mistress of Ceremony for the entire conference will be Jean E. Moore, EdD host of the award winning "University Forum" on Temple University's WRTI Radio Station.
