2000 Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge
Top Women's College Basketball Teams to Compete in Upcoming Tournament!
November 22nd and 24th, 2000

 
PRINCETON, NJ. The Gazelle Group is pleased to announce the match-ups for the 2000 Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge, women's college basketball tournament. Four of college basketball's best teams, Wisconsin, Georgia, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, will face each other on November 22nd and 24th, 2000 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.  The match-ups are as follows: Wednesday, November 22nd , Georgia vs. Oklahoma & Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame; Friday, November 24th Consolation Game, Championship Game. Specific game times and television coverage will be announced in the near future.

All four teams will return to the hardwood after impressive post-season appearances.   Georgia, a number one seed in the NCAA tournament reached the Elite Eight. Both Oklahoma and Notre Dame reached the Sweet Sixteen of the tournament and Wisconsin won the WNIT. "We are thrilled and flattered to be the host of this year's Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge," said Wisconsin Head Coach Jane Albright .  "This Event will showcase some of the best women's basketball teams in the country and raise a significant amount of money for Coaches vs. Cancer. You couldn't ask for a better combination."

The 1999 Event - which featured tournament champion and eventual NCAA National Champion UConn along with Old Dominion, Kentucky and Clemson - raised over $90,000 for Coaches vs. Cancer. Since 1995, Gazelle, producers of the Coaches vs. Cancer IKON Classic and the Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge, has raised over $1.0 million for Coaches vs. Cancer. Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration of the American Cancer Society, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, dedicated to supporting Hope, Progress and Answers in the war against cancer.
