NFL for Her breaks Traffic Records while Raising Money for Breast Cancer
The NFL's Breast Cancer Awareness day was a huge success, as NFL.com and NFL For Her
set all-time traffic records and the Susan G. Komen Foundation received $50,000!

NEW YORK, NY.  A record 1.75 million unique users logged onto NFL.com's website during the NFL's Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 24, 2000. Promoted throughout October on NFL.com and in Public Service Announcements during NFL games, fans learned about a special section on the pro football site, called NFL for Her.  On Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the section generated three million page views.  The section incorporates chats, features and other information about breast cancer and the NFL's sponsorship of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

As part of the initiative, the NFL donated $50,000 to the Komen Foundation.  Former NFL All-Pro linebacker Chris Spielman and his wife Stefanie, a breast cancer survivor, drew over 1,000 questions during their 45-minute chat with fans. The e-mailed messages ranged from supportive notes to advice-seeking queries. In addition, Nancy Brinker , founder of the Komen Foundation, and Nicole Miller, who designed a new line of NFL-inspired merchandise with proceeds benefiting the Komen Foundation, conducted live chats.

Other stories shared on the NFL for Her section of NFL.com are those of breast cancer survivor Janice McNair, the wife of Houston Texans owner Robert McNair, and Zenobia Anderson, the mother of the Atlanta Falcons' Jamal Anderson (whose family and friends have suffered from the disease).  The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. From its inception through the end of fiscal year 1999, the Foundation has raised more than $300 million for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

The site will continue to offer more features and information on breast cancer, along with the best news and information you can find on the NFL. Transcripts of past chats are also available at NFL.com.
