The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a non-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1993 by Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. The Foundation is the first and largest national organization strictly dedicated to funding clinical and genetic research on breast cancer at outstanding medical centers across the country. One hundred percent of administrative costs have been underwritten, therefore, all funds raised by the Foundation go directly to research. The Foundation welcomes and depends on contributions from all those concerned with women's health. Working together, we know we can conquer this disease in our lifetime. [For further information about The Foundation, please write to: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation 767 Fifth Avenue, 46th Floor, New York, NY 10153, (212) 572-4249 or visit them online at www.bcrfcure.org] Corporate Support on the Rise at The Breast Cancer Research Foundation Several large corporations have joined the ranks of major contributors to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the nation's first and largest not-for-profit organization dedicated solely to funding clinical and genetic breast cancer research at 23 leading medical institutions across the country. The Franklin Mint and BCRF are joining forces to market a line of collectibles that will benefit the Foundation. General Mills & Yoplait recently announced a $4.4 million grant to further the research efforts of the Foundation, with a special focus on the relationship between diet/nutrition and breast cancer. Salton, a leader in the manufacturing and licensing of household products, contributed $250,000 to BCRF and enabled the Foundation to be chosen as the recipient of proceeds from the 3rd Annual Dinner of the National Housewares Manufacturers Association, a major trade association. Chase Manhattan Bank distributed its year 2000 desk and pocket calendar, featuring the photographic work of BCRF's President, Evelyn H. Lauder, to its worldwide private banking clients, dramatically increasing the Foundation's presence among potential donors. American Express, together with hundreds of retailers across the country, chose BCRF as the beneficiary of its major fall 1999 crusade to raise funds for breast cancer research and presented the Foundation with a contribution of over $500,000. With this meaningful corporate support, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation expects to increase significantly its grants for clinical and genetic research in breast cancer. Grants to date total more than $20 million, with over $7 million for the year 2000. Checks can be made payable to THE BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION at the address listed above. [Source: Wilson]
