NACWAAHUNTINGTON BEACH, CA.  Ever wonder what it would be like to run a college athletic department?  Interested in working side by side with coaches and the NCAA?   How about specializing in compliance?

The need for more women in college athletics – is greater than ever.   While women’s sports are at an all time high across the country, college athletic departments are scrambling to find more women.  While women have struggled with the “good old boy” network for years – the future looks bright for women with an interest in athletic administration on the collegiate level.

The most significant organization paving the way for women in college athletic positions is the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA).   With a mission to support women in sports
related careers, NACWAA provides educational programs, professional and
personal development opportunities, information exchange, support services to enhance college athletics and to promote the growth, leadership, and success of women as athletics administrators, staff, coaches and student-athletes.

As part of the membership based organization, NACWAA presents an annual conference, known as the Fall Forum.  The intimate environment provides a wonderful opportunity for women to view the inside of a career in college athletics while learning from the industry’s best.   The 3-day professional development event, includes a new member reception,Nike Lifetime Achievement Luncheon, Exhibitors Show, Administrator of the Year Reception, and a variety of informative seminars, speakers and break-out sessions. (See 2000 Fall Forum schedule below).

If you are considering a career in college athletics, or if someone you know is, get to know NACWAA.   Find out who is doing the job you’d like to be doing!  Don’t miss this opportunity to GET INVOLVED!  [For more information on NACWAA or to become a member contact:  Maudie Whitehead, Director of Business/Operations, NACWAA, 4701 Wrightsville Ave., Oak Park D-1, Wilmington, NC  28403, Tel:  (910) 793-8244, Fax: (910) 793-8298 or email: mwhitehead@nacwaa.org, http://www.nacwaa.org]
