Wilmington, NC  The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) is pleased to announce the selected host and teams for the seventh annual State Farm Women's Volleyball Classic. The 2001 State Farm Women's Volleyball Classic will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 24 and 25 at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Joining Pacific in the Volleyball Classic will be the University of Nebraska, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Hawaii.

"We, at the University of Pacific, are very proud to host this major national women's volleyball competition on our campus", said Lynn King, Director of Athletics. "We look forward to showcasing the best in women's volleyball."

Nebraska, the 2000 defending National Champions, was only the second team to go undefeated in a season. They have four of their starters returning, including three 2000 AVCA All-Americans and previous AVCA Player of the Year, Nancy Meendering, who sat out last year to train with the 2000 National Team.  Wisconsin, who was ranked #2 at the end of 2000 and lost to Nebraska in the National Championship finals, has five of their starters returning, including two AVCA All-Americans.

Hawaii, ranked #3 at end of 2000, also competed in the National Championships last season, has five of their starters returning and includes an AVCA All-American First-Team Selection. Pacific, host of the Classic, was ranked #8 at end of 2000 and has 4 starters returning including their AVCA All-American Middle Blocker.

"State Farm is proud to continue our relationship with NACWAA for the seventh annual Volleyball Classic. With our involvement with women's sports, we think it is the right venue for us to be in," said Dick Bugajski, Director of Advertising, State Farm Insurance Companies.
