NASHVILLE, TN. (May 3, 2001) The National Women's Football League is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee so it doesn't suprise anyone that the two have joined forces to create not only a hit song, but something that insiders feel could become the anthem for women's sports worldwide. The song will debut this weekend in Boston, Elizabetheton, Baltimore, and Nashville. In the following weeks the song will debut in Washington, D.C., Hartford, Philadelphia, Huntsville, Pensacola, and Chattanooga.
"Just Give Me The Ball" is the result of a collaboration between Masters, songwriter/musician Ken Robertson and Nashville record producer, Jonell Polansky. "I told them exactly what I wanted the song to be and within a week, they had delivered a rough cut of the song.
Women have had to sit on the sidelines at football games and now, with the formation of the NWFL, they are getting a chance to play. The lyrics she felt, needed to communicate the excitement of women being able to play full contact football for the first time in their lives. And, the music had to be hard rocking and upbeat. "The song has to touch the hearts of the players and fans and the music has to get everyone up on their feet during the games." Masters states.
"Just Give Me The Ball" does just that. Written by Robertson, the song exemplifies women's desires to play sports, especially full contact football. Polansky, stepped up to produce and engineer the record. Polansky tapped Al John, the lead guitarist for the rock group Mink, to perform the awesome guitar tracks. And, if that wasn't enough, the group had Nashville Dream team Captain and linebacker, Ahndi Coffey sing the song.
The results have exceeded anyone's expectations. "We've got a monster hit on our hands. Little girls waiting for their soccer, tennis or softball games are going to be listening to this song in their headphones and I wouldn't be suprised if coaches of women's sports use this as an inspirational message before every game," states Masters. Masters will generate airplay for the song on traditional top forty radio stations but is also targeting sports talk radio.
"This is a powerful and uplifting song and we hope it encourages girls and women to keep going after their dreams," states NWFL Media and Marketing Director, Debby Lening.
