The National Women's Football League's

New Orleans Team is Named

 

NEW ORLEANS, LA (Sept. 27, 2001) – The newest member of the National Women's Football team has a name! The New Orleans "Spice" was chosen by team owners Roxanne Sparacello and Victoria Gilardi. The Spice is set to play in April 2002.

 

The New Orleans team will be part of the Gulf Coast Division and will be facing the Southern Division Champs, the Pensacola Power in the 2002 season. Other division members are the Biloxi Herricanes and the Mobile Sea Pirettes.

 

The NWFL started it's inaugural season in April 2001 with 10 teams playing in two divisions. The Philadelphia Liberty Belles played the Pensacola Power in The Championship Bowl in front of over 5,000 screaming fans!

 

The NWFL's website, www.nwflcentral.com, receives over 500,000 hits per month (according to Webtrends).
