Miracle Name Dee Brown Head
Coach ORLANDO FL (April 5, 2002) - RDV Sports Chief Operating Officer John Weisbrod today named former Orlando Magic guard Dee Brown as head coach/director of player personnel of the Orlando Miracle. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Brown succeeds Carolyn Peck, who has accepted a head coaching position with the University of Florida. Brown retired after 12 NBA seasons, served as Special Assistant to Orlando Magic Operations. "I am very excited and look forward to this great opportunity to coach these players," said Brown. "I believe we have a solid foundation in which to grow and build from and I am eager to begin the process." "We've always been impressed by Dee's basketball knowledge, work ethic and enthusiasm," said Weisbrod. "He has a passion for the game of basketball, and most importantly, is the type of person that we want representing our organization." The NBA veteran, who has played for Boston, Toronto and Orlando, averaged 11.2 ppg and 2.6 rpg throughout his career. In addition, he led the NBA in three-point field goals made (135) and attempted (349) in 1998-99. Brown also won the Gatorade Slam Dunk Championship at the 1991 NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. Brown played at Jacksonville University, where he averaged 13.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 3.1 apg. He majored in mathematics and computer science. The Jacksonville native and his wife, Tammy, have two daughters, Alexis (7) and Alyssa (5). Tammy played collegiate basketball at American International College. This season marks the first time that the Miracle will offer additional fan-friendly ticket packages, which include a seven game weekend package, a four game ticket option as well as a flex plan. The seven game weekend plan begins at $119, while the four game package is as low as $52 and the flex plan starts at $130. All ticket packages are for lower bowl seats. Season tickets for the Miracle's fourth season are still available in the lower bowl of the TD Waterhouse Centre with prices ranging from $8 to $36 per game.
