Saturn Leads Women's World Cup

WAUKESHA WI  (April 8, 2002) The Saturn Cycling Team women currently lead the 2002 Women’s World Cup (WWC) Series. After three events, Saturn’s Petra Rossner has collected two wins for a total of 150 points over the Netherlands’ Mirjam Melchers (Farm Frites), who has 128 points. Rossner won the first two stops on the tour, but bad luck and unfortunate timing took its toll on Rossner and her Saturn teammates during the third WWC race, La Primavera Rosa, which took place March 23, in Italy. Rossner crashed about 1,000 meters from the finish in Italy and was unable to collect any points.

Rossner and the Saturn Cycling Team will compete in two WWC events that take place in April where they will have an opportunity to garner more points. The fourth race in the series takes place in Belgium, April 17, and is closely followed by the fifth race on April 21, in Spain. Although both courses are challenging, the Saturn Cycling Team racers have proven that their determination is very powerful … they are hungry to defend their 2001 Women’s World Cup title.
