Jacqui Frazier Comes to DC to Support Local
Fighter
Washington DC (April 15, 2002) Jacqui “Sister Smoke”
Frazier, daughter of the legendary Joe Frazier, and respected boxer in her own
right (with a professional record of 8-1-0), will spar with Washington, DC
resident Lisa “Too Fierce” Foster this Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Too
Fierce Boxing & Fitness. The gym, located at 5517 Colorado Avenue, NW in
Washington, is owned and managed by Foster, who, at 5’7” and 118 pounds,
regularly spars with men much taller and heavier than she, so, she says, she
is prepared for the 5’9”, 168 pound Frazier. Foster is in training for a May 15, 2002 fight in New
Orleans for the vacant IFBA Junior Featherweight (118 lbs.) Championship. The
fight, in which Foster faces former Canadian Amateur Champion Kathy Williams,
headlines a two hour championship boxing card that will feature three other
women’s bouts and two men’s bouts. Foster’s record is 4-3-1 with one
knockout. Williams, coming off a year-long absence from boxing, has a 13-3-0
record, with four knockouts. The Foster vs. Williams bout, says the IFBA, “will
feature two of the finest women boxers in the Junior Featherweight division
today. These world class fighters have fought over 30 professional bouts
combined and now they will meet for the honor of becoming the IFBA Jr.
Featherweight Champion of the World.” The fight is the culmination of five
long, hard years of training for Foster (see her bio, below). Jacqui “Sister Smoke” Frazier and Lisa “Too Fierce”
Foster will be available for interviews beginning at 2:30 p.m. A large crowd
is expected for the sparring session and belt presentation. [Source: Christopher Cruise at 301-563-6225, Internet-based
