Nike Renews Multi-Year Marketing Agreement With WNBA NEW YORK NY (April 17, 2002) Nike has reached a new multi-year marketing agreement with the WNBA, extending the long-running relationship that dates back to the league's inception in 1997. As part of the agreement, Nike will continue to have its players wear Nike footwear on the court, in advertising and in promotional campaigns. Nike will also advertise during WNBA national broadcasts and participate in WNBA All-Star Summer Jam, the league's interactive fan festival staged in conjunction with the WNBA All-Star Game, which will be held on Monday, July 15 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. In addition, Nike will continue its support of the Jr. WNBA, a youth sports program designed to offer instrumental guidance and support to the training efforts of young players, coaches and parents.
