Thunder Advances To USPV Championship ST. LOUIS MO (April 21, 2002) The Chicago Thunder defeated the St. Louis Quest 3-1 Sunday to advance to the USPV Championship. Downers Grove, Ill. native Terri Zemaitis-Boumans, named the series MVP, scored a career-high 17 points (11 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces) to lead the Thunder, who swept the best-of-3 series 2-0. Kristee Porter, the USPV regular season scoring champion, led all scorers with 21.5 points, including 19 kills. Lisle, Ill. native Bonnie Bremner chipped in 58 setting assists. Chicago, 6-2 this season against St. Louis, will open the championship round on Sunday, April 28 against the winner of Wednesday's Grand Rapids at Minnesota match in Rochester, Minn. That series is tied 1-1 after Grand Rapids, 5-13 during the regular season, defeated regular season champion Minnesota 3-1 Sunday at Walker, Mich. If Chicago is the higher remaining seed, it will open the best-of-5 series at Saint Xavier University's Shannon Center on Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m..
