McPeak/Youngs Capture Their Fourth Title

BELMAR NJ (June 30, 2002) The crowd at Belmar Beach watched as Holly McPeak (Manhattan Beach, CA) and Elaine Youngs (Durango, CO) captured their fourth consecutive title by defeating Annett Davis (Tarzana, CA) and Jennifer Johnson-Jordan (Tarzana, CA) 21- 16, 21-14, 15-12. In their semi-match McPeak/Youngs defeated fifth seeds Carrie Busch (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Leanne Schuster (Manhattan Beach, CA) 21-10, 21-19, 15-13, leaving Busch/Schuster to take home third place.

This marks the return of the women to Belmar with their last appearance in 1994. Youngs lead with 17 blocks and served up 10 aces. This marks McPeak's 60th career win, seven away from Karolyn Kirby with 67. This was Davis/Johnson-Jordan's best finish of the season.
