    WUSA Releases Home Video of Inaugural Season                     
- - Video Recounts Historic Firsts From the Women's United Soccer Association - -            
    

NEW YORK, NY  The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) today announced the release of its first home video, recounting the historical events from its inaugural 2001 season. History in the Making, produced by the WUSA, is available on the official league website - wusa.com or by calling 1-800-331-5191. The video will sell for a suggested price of $24.95.

The 40-minute VHS takes viewers from the WUSA's historic opener where US National Team stars Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain faced off in front of more than 34,000 fans, to the first-ever battle for the Founder's Cup at the championship game in Foxboro, Mass.

"This home video allows WUSA fans and soccer fans from across the world to relive the historical and exciting first steps of our league," said Kerry Tatlock, VP, of Television and New Media for the WUSA. "It's a real showcase of the talent we have on the field as well as the unique atmosphere we create at a WUSA game."

Some highlights of the video include:

  • Exclusive footage from WUSA players talking about the formation of the league and what it means to them.
  • Inaugural game footage from April 14th, when Mia Hamm and her Washington Freedom defeated Brandi Chastain and her San Jose CyberRays in a dramatic 1-0 opener.
  • Highlights from all eight WUSA teams and how they formed their own unique identities within their markets and with their fans.
  • The dramatic WUSA Championship Game held in Foxboro Mass, where the San Jose CyberRays outlasted the Atlanta Beat in penalty kicks to win the Founder's Cup.

The WUSA Investor Group includes media giants AOL Time Warner, Comcast Corporation, Cox Enterprises, Inc. and Cox Communications as well as individual investors John Hendricks and Amos Hostetter.

The eight WUSA teams include the Atlanta Beat, Bay Area CyberRays, Boston Breakers, Carolina Courage, New York Power, Philadelphia Charge, San Diego Spirit and the Washington Freedom.
